Biology and Conservation of the Andalusian Buttonquail (2001-2020)
Since the discovery of the last West Palearctic population of this endangered taxon, I've been involved in monitoring the species in Spain, Morocco and Algeria. First with funds from Junta de Andalucía, and the support of Seo/BirdLife, Autoroutes du Maroc and Espacio Natural Doñana, and finally thanks to the Severo Ochoa program for centres of excellence en R+D+I (SEV-2012-0262-01) from Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, I obtained a grant (BES-2015-074938) to undertake my PhD entitled "Biology and Conservation of the Andalusian Buttonquail" at Estación Biológica de Doñana (CSIC).

The White-headed Duck and the Ruddy Duck (1998-2020)
The spread in Europe of the invasive Ruddy Duck has been pointed as a major threat to the conservation of the western population of the endangered White-headed Duck. A temporary consortium was created by Consultora de Recursos Naturales S.L. with Sylvatica S.L. and funded by the Spanish environmental authorities (Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica) to form an eradication team for the invasive Ruddy Duck, in which I lead the fieldwork to detect Ruddy Duck individuals and its hybrids with the White-headed Duck. I've been advisor on the Life ERDUK project (LIFE05/NAT/UK/000142) for the eradication of the Ruddy Duck in the UK, the redaction of the Life Oxyura (LIFE17/NAT/FR/000542) for the eradication of the same species in France and the Action Plans for the Eradication of the Ruddy Duck in Europe, under the support of the Council of Europe. At the same time I've been consultant in the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) White-headed Duck International Working Group, in the framework of the LIFE14/PRE/UK/000002, to prepare the AEWA International Single Species Action Plan for the Conservation of the White-headed Duck.

Birds of Parque Natural del Cabo de Gata-Níjar (2015)
Hired by Estación Biológica de Doñana (CSIC), I made a survey on the distribution and abundance of the breeding birds Parque Natural del Cabo de Gata-Níjar (Almería, SE Spain) in a grid of one square kilometer on the frame of the excelence project "Vertebrate population response to energy flow variability in mediterranean ecosystems" (RNM-6685) funded by Junta de Andalucía.
Regenerative agriculture (2015)
Biodiversity consultant within the AlVelAl initiative for the implementation of regenerative farming practices in eastern Andalucía and Murcia, with the support of the Commonland Foundation.

The Atlas Flycatcher (2014)
With a micro-project of the Estación Biológica de Doñana (CSIC) funded by the Severo Ochoa program to centres of excelence R+D+I (SEV-2012-0262-01), we made an expedition to survey and sample the poorly known Atlas Flycatcher.
Isoscapes and stable Isotopes (2013-2014)
In the Stable Istope Laboratory at Estación Biológica de Doñana (CSIC), funded with a grant (103367) from the National Science and Engineering Council of Canada, I finished a Science master with a thesis published as "Toward a Deuterium Feather Isoscape for Sub-Saharan Africa: Progress, Challenges and the Path Ahead", based on museum feather sampling of Green-backed Camaroptera.

Seabirds and cetaceans (2012-2013)
Within the Applied Marine Ecology Group at Estación Biológica de Doñana (CSIC), in collaboration with CIRCE (Conservation, Information and Research of Cetaceans) I became part of the survey team to study the distribution and abundance of cetaceans and seabirds in the Gulf of Cádiz (SW Spain), funded by a National Research Plan I+D+i 2008-2011 and Compañía Española de Petróleos (CEPSA).

(2005-2011)
During 7 years I was part of the Conservation Department of Espacio Natural Doñana (Doñana National Park), which was in charge of the territory management for conservation of the Fauna and Flora of the Park and eradication of alien invasive species. I was hired by Agencia de Medio Ambiente y Agua (former EGMASA) first and then by TRAGSATEC.

The Aquatic Warbler (2000-2003)
With the Fundación Global Nature as ringer in the Estación Biológica de la Nava ringing station and then biologist in the Life proyect for the conservation of the Aquatic Warbler in La Nava-Campos (LIFE/NAT/E/8616).

Windfarms and electric lines (2000-2002)
Studies on the impact in widfarms and its evacuation electric power lines during the preinstalation, construction and explotation periods with Asistencias Técnicas Clave and NEG Micon (currently Vestas).
The Little Bustard (2000-2002)
Little Bustard breeding population monitoring in La Rioja, for the environmental authorities of La Rioja Government.
The Montagu's Harrier (1998-2003)
Conservation of the Montagu's Harrier in La Rioja by monitoring of its breeding areas, and managing the harvest crop to secure the nest hatching sucess, for the environmental authorities of La Rioja Government. The project also included nests of Hen Harrier, Marsh Harrier and Short-eared Owl.
